We've been confronted with a corrupt Clarion datafile from one of our
clients.

BUILD does not repair the file.

The file refuses to be opened - not even with the Clarion database browser.

We've even written a little procedure to try writing the records to another
newly created file. We've also tried deleting the *.K* files.

But it keeps responding with error 46 - Key files must be rebuilt.

Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!!!!
(Our client has made no backups during the past 40 days!! and this is an
important transaction file).

Thanx.

Hi,

Assume its a Clarion 2.1 file as you mention *.k* files.

Have you tried using CSRT / CFIL on it ?

Seemed to remeber that this worked somes times. Other wise can you open file
using CSCN and hand edit it - it always seemed to be the last record added
was corrupt gave this error.

CFIL / CSRT / CSCN are the file utiliies provided with CFD 2.1.

Thanks for the info, but it's a Clarion 5-file.

What utilities could I use to fix this?

Hi,

If you are using Clarion File i.e. *.DAT and *.K* they are still the CFD 2.1
files, even if created under Clarion 5 and the CFD 2.1 utilities should
work.
