Somebody can tell me where I can get some utility to convert database
files (.DAT) from Clarion to .DBF (Clipper).

Thanks in advanced.

Use CCVT.EXE which came with Clarion for DOS V2.1

CCVT in the CPD2.1 package will do the job.

CCVT.EXE does a great job and I use it all the time with one exception -
that being files that have date fields - CCVT will convert to the internal
date number rather than the date picture - or is than just on the ascii
basic convert. At any rate, this is the only problem I ever encountered.

If you have a frequent or complicated needs to convert Clarion .DAT
files to other formats consider Data Junction. It's been around for
years and continously improved and performs as advertised. Visit its
web site at http://www.datajunction.com/

For simple straightforward conversions to .DBF I use Clarion 2.1
conversion utility.

Pretty disgraceful that the consensus on this is to use a file from a product
that's several years old....

I jumped in at CW2.003 or so, and don't have CCVT on my machine. I spent
hours wrassling with .DATs trying to get DBFs. And then, after much grief
trying to modify file structures and getting Error 47s, I started using
Database Desktop from Delphi 1.0. I also use Access to efficiently update my
database files via search and replace, etc.

This is another of the examples (the other one being the report "rotter")
where CW "gives" with the App Wizard, but then "TAKES" in pounds of flesh on
the back end....sometimes literally!

If you have ever used the utilities that came with Clarion 2.1 for DOS, you
would understand. A simple command line, prompts where you go wrong, speed
etc.
By the time you've loaded your Delphi, my file would be converted already.

After reading all the suggestions people made.. I have only one:

Data Junction.

Converts from DAT to DBF just fine (do it all the time) - can handle the
date functions.

It is not freeware - you've got to pay for it, but it does handle 90% of
the database formats out there - so over time, it more than pays for
itself.

Do a web search on DataJunction

Yep, I wished they had kept these utilities, and I keep my files in DAT so I
can use the CSRT.EXE utility. I have a static database of 100,000 records
that I use sorter to sort by State+City+Name. No where have I found the
ability to do this with CW.

You could use an Index and then BUILD() it from CW.
