An ActiveX component is uniquely identified by it's GUID(Globally Unique
Id), also named CLSID. A GUID is a 128-bit (16 byte) interger.

I think it would be a STRING(16). But I think it can be overlaid with 4
ULONGS (which are 4 bytes each). Andy Ireland would know.

Hi Russ, Arthur and Bob,

Thanks for the help.

Should this 128-bit "number" be stored in a string from high-order byte
to low-order byte? Or should this number be stored "Intel Style"
Low-64-bit, High-64-bit and with each 64-bit is Low-long and High-long, etc?

I would like to have a GUID Key for the file. Should I use four longs
or one string(16)?

Regards,

Edward

It is a LONG. Period. Otherwise, my COM code would not be working. It is
NOT a string.
