After having compiled a number of different apps it is currently taking me
an age to unload Clarion.

After pressing exit it can be upto a couple of minutes before I can get
control of my system again (W98). Clarion is whirring away as though its
doing a lot of saving to disc.

Is there some setup parameter that I have set wrong or can anyone give me
any ideas as to where to investigate.

Many thanks for any help

Cheers

Get on the Trade & exchange & get a copy of NT4 or 2000. Rebuild your
machine. 95, 98 ME are gaming platforms. You wont have the same
problems with an NT based system

In my experience, you will. I can sit in task manager on Win2k or Xp
and watch clarion fiddle with itself after Ive clicked the x button to
close it. You can watch the ram figures change and then it goes away.

I'm using that 'gaming' system Windows ME... and it doesn't take any
appreciable amount of time to unload Clarion 5.5

As a postscript, when I notice this, c55 usually has 60-70 meg of
memory tied up.

Martin,

I use C5b and have the same problem in W98 on PIII 850 Mhz,128Mb machine.
After having tried several different RAM Optimisers I've given up and simply
reboot my machine when it starts getting slow. You may have noticed that
even the machine's clock slows done and falls behind the actual time (this
resets itself after reboot).

Maybe you should install a bit more memory. My development machine has
512MB and i'm having no problems.

Cheers,

Be thankful you don't have to use XP. On a dual processor 800 with
512mb RAM it is awful. XP is a beast. Unfortunately all our clients
are on XP now =(.

Under XP I often have to kill the NTDVM as well,
since it won't go with C55svrx.
