Hi all,

I just upgraded to Clarion5.5 and downloaded and installed the latest
patches.

When I try to open a tps file using the IDE, the Clarion Database Manager
first doesn't recognize the tps file as TOPSPEED (the picklist defaults to
ASCII), and when I select the right driver from the list and hit OK the I
get the following message:

"Error(516): Incorrect File Driver or corrupt file"

The files are not corrupt ( I can use my apps or Topscan to view the files
with no problems), but C5 is not hacking it from the IDE which is a pain.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Cheers,

Pepe.

Use TPSFix for the file and see if it's corrupted?

Did you change the file def? And are there any OVERED fields or ARRAYS in
the file?

Try re-registering your db drivers (start by pressing Update on the driver
list).

Rename the c55brw.ini file

Thanks Ronald but as I said, the data is not corrupt in any way. I just
cannot browse any file, regardless of the file structure. C4 still reads the
files OK though.

Thanks,

Pepe.

Steve,

I had already tried re-registering the file drivers without any luck. This
is really driving me insane as I use this functionality a lot (quickly
browse data, convert files, etc). I am running Clarion5.5D over Win2000
Professional. I even reinstalled Clarion on a NT box but still no luck. Any
thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pepe,

Check your .red file (redirect file) to see if something is amiss there.

And make sure there are no older c55 dlls in your path.

Hi Steve,

I found the culprit. For some unknown and bizarre reason, the wrong path to
the browser applet was set by the installation program in the C55pe.INI
file:

[paths]
brwcfg=C:\C55PE\BIN\C55BRW.INI

I in fact, installed to D:\C55. To fix the problem I pointed the keyvalue
to the right path (D:\C55\BIN\C55BRW.INI) and copied my old C4brw.INI as
C5BRW.INI. I then changed the keyvalues for the file driver DLLs inside
the INI file (changed the values from C4* to C55*) and that was it.

Jeez, mate!

Thanks for you help and interest, anyway.

Regards,

Pepe.

Hi Johan,

Your suggestion gave me an idea and I mangaged to fix the problem. See my
response to Steve Parker on this thread.

Cheers and thanks,

Pepe.
