And also kill-file this little chink from Hong Kong called Cheung or
Mai Wai Chang. He/they are creating more noise than Rick. I don't
receive any posts from any of them including Rick but people like you
keep responding to them so I come to know about them.

1. Rick is not destroying this group;
2. Rick participates in the technical discussions in meaningful ways - I don't always agree
with his ideas, but he doesn't *just* witness;
3. You don't have to read Rick's non-technical posts;
4. You don't have to endlessly bitch about Rick's non-technical posts.

So, posting religious shit in about 20 newsgroups is
perfectly OK in your view?

Most people call that SPAM/MALICIOUS practice.

And your response is trying to promote that.

You must be proud of that.

For the record:

I typically post to five groups. They are my direct fields of interest,
which include C, C++, hardware, FPGAs, and OS development.

I do not post other places unless I have interests there, which I do
from time to time, but not ongoing. I have posted to the Visual FoxPro
groups, GIMP, and MPFR, over the past 14 years, but not typically, and
not often. Only when I was there for some reason for a time with an
explicit interest in whatever it was I needed at that time.

Oh, for crap's sake.

Do I wish Rick's stuck to technical posts in comp.lang.c and left out the witnessing
altogether? Of course I do.

Do I agree that, by witnessing, that Rick is somehow "destroying" this news group? No,
I do not. Far more effective trolls, spammers, and almond nutbars have tried, and at
best they've been momentary annoyances. Rick's not S**** N****, he's not Ed Nilges, he's
not picking fights for the sake of picking fights, he's not promoting random incoherent
conspiracy theories, he's not flooding the group with dozens of 'bot-generated word-salad
posts at a time. On a scale of 1 to RageQuitWorthy, Rick rates about a 2, maybe a 3 on
some days.

Rick is only a problem for people who decide to *let* him be a problem. Killfile him or
ignore him the old-fashioned way. You don't have to read his posts, you don't have to
respond to him, you don't have to respond to me bitching to people who are bitching
about him, etc.

Otherwise you're just metaphorically picking at scabs and keeping them from healing
properly.

People far more annoying than Rick have tried and failed. And it's not like you're
contributing much to the overall quality of the discussion.

Again, Rick's only a problem for people who *let* him be a problem. You don't have to
let him be a problem. You can ignore him. You can choose not to respond to him. It's
*easy*.

Because of his mental issues. He's quite easy to ignore (filter out). The

You can do a real test to see if I have mental issues:

1) By Biblical standards, do you have any sin in your life?
2) Do you want to be cast into a lake of unending fire?
3) If judgment for sin were true, and being cast into the unending
lake of fire was the cost of sin in that judgment, would you
want a way out?

Any sane person's answers should be: 1) yes, 2) no, 3) yes.

Jesus is the way out. He takes our sin away so we are not cast into the
lake of fire for our sin, but instead He voluntarily pays the price for
our sin, setting us free.

Now ... the ONLY issue you have is whether or not you believe that God
is real, that the God of the Bible is real, and if Jesus is really the
Savior.

That's the issue you need to resolve within your self. My teaching and
testimony is that:

God is real
The God of the Bible is real
Jesus really is the Savior

I testify as to the change in my life, and I ask you to go and examine
these claims for yourself. Read the Bible, go to a local church and
talk to people face-to-face and ask them questions.

If you're honestly seeking for the truth, you will find it.

Rick C. Hodgin

PS -- I am right in teaching you of your sin, of damnation, of salvation
through Christ, and that you need this to be saved from being cast
into the unending lake of fire. That is why I do not have a mental
disorder, and why the information I provide to you is what you need
more than even the air. Please think! Please examine these things!
Do not let your own personal belief in something you HAVE NOT TRULY
investigated overshadow your life via ignorance. Seek the truth and
come to know for sure!

I don't think Ricky is mentally ill, in the clinical sense, unlike, say,
our orange baboon president. Rather, he is deranged by faith, in much the
same way that our completely nutso-beyond-the-pale albino vice president is.

In other words, we really, really are entitled to know what horrible thing
happened to Ricky about a decade ago. All reports are that prior to this
event, he was a more-or-less-normal Usenet poster - until one fateful, dark
and stormy night, where something really really horrible happened to him.

I really, really want to know what that event was.

I was working as a contractor at an accounting facility. My nearest
cubicle neighbor was a Christian. She evangelized for about a year
to convince me that Jesus was the way, that I had sin, and so on. I
was an atheist and I gave the same answers you all give me about how
God wasn't real, we didn't need God to be moral, that there are dozens
of mainstream religions, thousands of fringe religions, and what made
her think her's was right?

She moved to another area, and the man who replaced her was also a
Christian. He began evangelizing to me in a different way. He was
asking me questions about things. For about five months I was able
to remember enough from Youth Group and Sunday School to answer his
questions. But, eventually he was asking me some questions that were
deep enough I didn't know enough to answer definitively.

I asked him if we could read the Bible together at lunch time and I
would go through and systematically destroy the logic it had within
chapter by chapter, verse by verse, as I was trying also to convince
him that he was wrong by being a Christian, that it was for the weak,
those who needed a crutch. I actually used the term "sky daddy" and
so on.

We began our reading, and he asked me if we could pray. I thought it
was stupid, but I said, "Sure." He grabbed my hands and said a basic
prayer, "Lord, as we open up this Bible, may you send your Holy Spirit
into our hearts and minds, and may we receive from you that which you
have for us from your written word. Amen."

I didn't say amen. I just let him go through his "ritual."

We began reading in Genesis 1, the account of creation. My initial
thinking was that the Big Bang happened, evolution, it was millions
and billions of years ago. He began talking about day 1, day 2,
day 3. He told me of the protective water shield that used to be
above the Earth, and I was literally laughing at him on the inside
of my mind, but was polite to him outwardly.

The thing was this: I honestly wanted to know the truth about the
Bible. I wasn't expecting it to lead me to faith. I was expecting
it to lead me to the realization I previously believed, that it was
total bunk, easily refutable, that it had no basis in fact, or if
it had any, merely a sidelong basis in fact. I also, at that time,
thought that Jesus really did live, but he was just a man like any
of us, just a famous man, and probably a good man.

But there was that thing, that I honestly wanted to know the truth.

Because of this fact, something supernatural happened to me. God
opened up my understanding, and I began to believe and know that
what I was reading was true. It took me completely off guard, and
I didn't tell him for a few days. But a change had taken place in
me that was undeniable.

I later remembered that it was on the night of October 31, 2003,
into the morning of November 1, 2003, when I had a dream. In that
dream I saw Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood standing up on a large
tree stump. I was pulled forward in my dream from far away to up
close. As soon as I got very close, Robin Hood turned around and
I saw his eyes. They were glowing like white hot coals in a furnace.
The very instant I saw his eyes, I knew it wasn't Robin Hood, I knew
that He was Jesus, that He was Lord, that He was God, that He was
good, and then I woke up. All of that knowledge came rushing to me
in my dream.

That was October 31, 2003. It was exactly nine months later on
July 31, 2003, that I came to believe in Jesus Christ.

I told people at work and nobody believed me. They thought I was
mocking the guy who had been reading the Bible to me. It literally
took them a couple weeks before they would believe me.

Ever since that time I've been changed from within, and much to my
total amazement. I read some of the things I write sometimes, as I
am writing them, and I am amazed at what they say. They come from
inside me. It is not Rick at work, but God guiding Rick at work to
write them.

I was born again because I honestly sought to know the truth about
what the Bible said, and that if God was real or not. Because I
sought the truth, God drew me to the truth so I could come to His
Son, ask forgiveness, and be saved. Had I not been honestly seek-
ing for the truth, I never would've found it.

There is also a lead-up for this I could tell you about, and some
things that happened afterward. It's really quite amazing.

Utter surprise and amazement. I was totally floored and stunned.
I could not believe it, and told people that if it hadn't happened
to me I would not have believed it was possible.

The spirit nature is real. Forgiveness of sin is real. Jesus gave
us a real transaction on the cross. He takes our sin away, and
leaves us with His spotless righteousness, such that we are made
perfect before God. This removes us from the condemnation of sin,
and restores us to eternal life.

All of us need Jesus to forgive our sin. He offers that forgiveness
for free, just for the asking, just for the humbling of yourself
before Him, acknowledging only that you are a sinner, and that you
have sinned and need forgiveness.

For all who will come to that place, He will forgive them. The rest
will remain forever believing whatever they do ... until they die, at
which time reality will hit them like a freight train, and the full
ramifications we've warned them about all these years comes down to
bear upon them. It will overtake them and see their eternal soul
cast forever into the eternal lake of fire. No parole. No reprieve.
Just unending torment because the individual loved sin more than
truth.

God doesn't send anyone to Hell. We each send ourselves there when
we reject His free offer of salvation, and hold fast to our pride
and arrogance, believing we know better than God.

People who lose their faith never had it to begin with.

Being born again is a new life. It's spirit, and it's eternal.
What happened to you was pseudo. It's why you lost it.

He had "supernatural event" which caused him to become like this, which
means he has halutinations...
Sure, he was approached by cult before that, and spent significant time

Programming job is like that. Keeps you rational ;)

Except when you have to correct some dipshits programming errors. And this gets especially awesome if this person was a former 1099 programmer.

I don't know his diagnosis and I honestly don't care. All I care of is the
purpose of this group.

We all have different hobbies or other fields of interest, but we also
(hopefully) agree that we've gathered here to discuss things related to
programming in the C language. If someone is interested in Bible, he won't
have much trouble finding newsgroups related to his interests.

If someone fails to understand this simple fact about Usenet and about
human interactions in general, and tries to enforce his views about
unrelated topics on people who clearly don't want to discuss them with
him, then either he's a troll, or his mental sanity is questionable.

I have a feeling that all this has already been said before, maybe more
than once. That's why the only way to keep this group from becoming a tube
of religious propaganda is to collectively ignore the troubling poster.

There is a teaching here, Adam. It is that we are to have God out
front ahead of the other things we do.

He must be #1 in our lives, for He is truly #1 in our lives. Then,
after we have that relationship established with Him, do we move
forward with the various things we have interests in.

This teaching is given IN CONTRAST to the world's teaching, which
says we are to isolate and divide and compartmentalize our lives
into these things here, and "religion" over there.

God doesn't want us being divided people. He wants us wholly
unified in everything we do ... unto Him first, and then unto our
other life concerns.

A large part of the teachings in these things I post convey this
very sentiment. God is over all, and that's the way it is. For
each of us we must recognize that relationship and then move, for
to do otherwise is to be in outright rebellion against God, and
that will not end well for any man.

If you just simply ignore his off-topic messages and not reply to him,
he'll eventually get the point and stop posting them. He may be doing
it for the attention he gets from posts like this, for all I know.
But to say that he's "destroying" this group is a bit of an
exaggeration, I think.

But that's the funny thing. Rick is not your garden variety troll.
Garden variety trolls do indeed wither and die if we do not feed them.

Rick, OTOH, seems to thrive on neglect.

Usenet is all about exaggeration.

Many (most?) Trump voters voted for him because they thought if they supported Trump
enough, they'd get to *be* Trump.

Similarly, Trump believes that if *he* praises Putin enough, he'll get to *be* Putin.

I have told you before many times: I am trying to teach people
about their sin, about God, about judgment, about damnation, about
salvation from judgment and damnation through Jesus Christ.

That really is my sole (soul) intent, Kenny. You mock me and demean
and swing your scythe with both arms because you don't get it. I also
fear you won't until it's too late, and that breaks my heart.

Someday, one way or the other, you will realize I am not a troll.
Never have been. Never will be. I really do have the intention of
saving your soul from death.

If some other commercial enterprise were spamming the group with advertising, it would be blocked. But because Rick is advertising a business that sells only imaginary products for hard cash and evades taxes to boot, he gets a pass?

I found an NNTP server software, WendzelNNTPd, that looks easy to setup. I
will oneday do so, and run my own news server, and then invite you all there
so we don't have spam again.

Yes, it is a shameless plug to advertise this nntpd server but hey, it is
open source and written in C and has to do with Usenet/NNTP so I think it is
fair game.

Yeah I guess if we stop giving him this sort of attention he will stop (his
spam posts). His technical posts are fine and great (as in the ontopic
posts).

I know I gave him attention in my latest post to this group but that was
a joke. Hence I shan't do it again.

I thought showing him I know where he lives might help the situation. It did not. This forum is a leaking porta potty. Did Jesus 'Super Troll' Christ think that was clever? Over and over, the refrain is Jesus 'Super Troll' Christ wants to "talk tech", but the guy spends most of his time whining about "obsession". Thankfully the person you are responding to is in my shit list.
