I know there are copies available to buy but I'd rather just download
a free copy if at all possible. Does anybody know where to get a copy
of the standard... I looked thru the archives but they all have
dead/bad links.

thanks much

That's right. There is no free copy. If you need it, buy it. Are
you saying that you'd rather join somebody in breaking the copyright
law?

Google for "c++ draft standard". Draft versions of the C++ standard are
the only ones you can legally download for free.

What copyright violation?

Looks to me like a certain individual just prefers to keep his copy of the
Standard on webspace so he has access to it wherever he goes.

Also, make sure you tell the US Authorities that I'm living in Dublin,
Ireland so they can put out an APB.

Interesting, especially since the PDF file has this "watermark" on
each page:

"Licensed to LRDE/thierry geraud
ANSI Store order #X128269 Downloaded: 4/13/2004 10:45:22 AM ET
Single user license only. Copying and networking prohibited."

Yes, I looked to see that the genuine file was illegally present,
before I reported the copyright violation. No, I do not need that
copy, I own two PDFs myself, one before and one after TC1. I paid
$18.00 for each one.

This also appears on each page of the document:

"Š ISO/IEC 2003"

...so it is not just the US Authorities that you need to worry about.
