If you'd like to send an email to ab...@giganews.com to get Leigh
Johnston to stop posting parody posts, you can use this information:

-----
Giganews rules and guidelines for posting policy:

https://www.giganews.com/legal/aup.html

Violations of GigaNews' Acceptable Use Policy by posting these
impersonation posts:

*Off-Topic Posting*
Nearly every newsgroup has a stated topic or acceptable range of topics
for posting or discussion. Blatant disregard of the intended subject
matter in a newsgroup will be treated as abusive posting. *Posting off
topic material in large volume or with apparent malicious intent will
lead to immediate account termination.*

*Trolling*
Trolling is the practice of maliciously trying to *incite other**s* that
use a newsgroup, *to deviate from the stated topic of the group*. In
other words, trolling is an attempt to anger others to the point of
drawing them into an argument or an off topic debate. Giganews does not
tolerate trolling and will terminate service of those who abuse the
service in this manner.

*Altered Headers*
Falsifying header lines to obscure the originating server, *to attribute
a post to someone else*, to falsely indicate moderator approval, or to
make an original post look like a followup are serious abuses of our
service and will result in immediate account termination.

The multiple posts are all here:

People are free to report anything I post to any authority they
choose to do so. I will accept the consequences as they are
doled out.

You subscribe to a service which is enabling you to post true
impersonation posts that even Google Groups does not recognize
is not me. It shows up with my channel icon, ascribes the
posts to me. I don't even see them as unread when I view them
on Google Groups.

What you're doing, Leigh, is evil. You are attacking a servant
of God with your anti-Christ rhetoric. And you do not realize
the piles of burning coals you are heaping upon your own head.

I would save from all of that, but you won't hear any of it.

I think it is safe to say that Leigh's so-called "parody" posts are
flagrant abuse and everyone wants them to stop. It is /equally/ safe to
say that all your religious posts which provoke them, and your "I did
not write the post" replies, are also abuse and everyone wants them to stop.

How about both of you stop this petty squabble, and we get back to
talking about something at least close to C++ ?

All of Usenet is a vicious circle these days.

This is the GOP's problem. When you're at the beginning of the year
and you've got nine Democrats running for the nomination, maybe one or
two of them are Dennis Kucinich. When you have nine Republicans, seven
or eight of them are Michelle Bachmann.

The way I know that I am reading a so-called "Impersonation Post" is
because I am left feeling that this RCH (Red C**t Hair) persaonna is not
completely insane [*]. Now, we wouldn't want that, would we?

[*] Then I read the stupid "It's not me" followup, and am reminded that,
yes, The Real Rick *is* completely insane.

P.S. The conclusion, if you are too thick to see it, is that Leigh's posts
improve your reputation. Your own posts undo his good work.

Yes. But I have no choice, Christian. I don't want people
doing a search for my name and happening across this content
Leigh posts, concluding by mistake that it came from me.

I have tried to get it to stop repeatedly (more than 20 times)
by going to GigaNews. They have ignored all of my requests.

If more of you send email to their abuse department, maybe then
it will actually be finally addressed as the complaints come
from someone who is not me.

What you call craziness is the new spirit born again nature.
And I do embrace it. It's what enables me to receive these
hateful demeaning posts from you and not respond in kind.

> Let it out! Admit it! Enjoy it!

Go and talk to born again people at your local Bible believing
churches, Kenny. Get input from them on the change that took
place from before they were saved to after, and how they felt
that huge weight come off when their sin was forgiven.

It's not a joke. But it does require the new spirit nature to
be able to receive and understand.

Great!! We are in agreement! We only differ in terminology, which is
nothing. You call it "the new spirit"; I (and just about everyone else)
calls it crazy or insanity. But, hey, those are just words.

I am so happy to hear that you are embracing the real you.

came to overcome our weaknesses and mistakes. We all need Him
to overcome our folly, but He doesn't call us to be embracing

He calls us to be holy, loving, caring, teaching.

You misunderstand me completely. I think you are right to what to
defend your name against such abuse. But you are wrong to do it by
posting more religious nonsense in response to his posts. If you think
any of us mistake his posts for yours, you gravely insult our
intelligence. If you think your posts will stop him or reduce his
mocking, you are living in a fantasy world. If you think any of us want
to read more of your meaningless monologues, you are again badly mistaken.

Send abuse complaints to his Usenet provider - that is an entirely
reasonable response and is certainly your right when he makes posts
claiming to be from you.

Don't expect a lot of sympathy from others in this group, however. Two
wrongs do not make a right - neither Leigh nor you are in any position
to take the moral high ground. You are /both/ at fault for flagrant
abuse of this group.

If you killfile Rick you won't see my parody posts either; unfortunately this form of parody is the only weapon I have to stop the likes of Rick spamming this technical newsgroup with his religious garbage. The quality of the parody is quite high IMO: last night's bombing run was simply quotes of the great atheist Christopher Hitchens (modulo the final "Meta" post).

All of the other hosts that have come up to date where people have
impersonated me by name and email address have honored my request
to have those posts filtered out. It hasn't even been an issue.
The request was made one time and they replied effectively, "done."
This forced people like Peter Cheung to post using a different
email address at least, which then clearly differentiated his posts
from my own.

GigaNews was the only news provider that had not acted.

I don't mind if Leigh wants to post using a similar email and/or
name like "Rick C. Hoggins" or whatever other close name he can
find. But, to post using my exact identity is the thing I take
issue with. He's directly disparaging my name, and it is not only
wrong, if he lived in the U.S. it would be illegal and I would be
able to take legal action.

That is a fair point. I think, however, that the damage to your
reputation will be very minimal. No one searches C++ group archives for
religious posts - those would be quickly skipped. No one searches for
religious posts in a C++ group. And I think anyone who /did/ come
across and read these posts would quickly establish that there are two
different people posting with the same name.

I fully appreciate the principle here, but don't expect it to be an
issue in practice.

I do not think it's so obvious. In addition, I expect people to
be searching for my name in general, unrelated to C++, unrelated to
this group, but finding search results here. My clarification posts
make it unambiguous for them.

It's not possible to damage Ricky's rep any further than he already has.

As I've mentioned many times, Leigh is doing the best he can to
rehabilitate Ricky's image, but it is obviously a hard, uphill struggle.

Every good thing that Leigh does, Rick quickly undoes. It's one step
forward, one step back - at best.
