FWIW... I saw no errors or warnings after VS 2013 converted
DgnMacroRec. In other words, apparently there is nothing to it.

You might want to make the small and unobtrusive DgnMacroRec window
"always on top". An always-on-top window can be minimized when it's
in the way. That's how I've been using DebugView.

It outputs in Vocola 2.

I would be encouraged to use Dragonfly if somebody were maintaining
it. Christo Butcher has been away for a long time as you can see by
the fact that Dragonfly files have not been updated. I guess
something in the repository has changed when he's had a problem with
it, but that's it.

Great!

I'll make this my next goal.

I hear you. I wonder if anyone has heard from him at all? Still, after
seeing that video on youtube of Tavis Rudd, I'm sold on Dragonfly. You
write all your macros in Python and it has a huge library of stuff. I
suppose as long as it works well enough as it exists today, it's worth
investing in.

You are a Python programmer?

Or wait and use the system tray instead of a window. I've used
lots of macro recorders, I'm really not sure what a program window
is good for.

I was thinking maybe use a check box for recording mouse clicks
either relative to the whole screen or relative to the current
window, but that can be done/signaled easily by holding the
control key while clicking. In other words, holding control might
mean "write the click so that it's relative to the window". That
way you don't have to take your eyes off of what you're doing.

No, just baby steps at the moment.

One thing about using the system tray for simply telling whether
recording is in progress is that (I guess) you do not have to program
for various Windows color schemes. I use a high contrast white on
black color scheme because IMO looking at black text on a white
monitor is like reading on the surface of a lightbulb. The option has
been viable since about Windows XP. There are still problems with
some programs. Looks like your recorder window uses a black font
after the first recording cycle. So "not recording" becomes invisible
but I can still see "recording in progress" in red. Again, I suppose
system tray icons don't have that problem.
