Which is the best?

Look on Simtel for ASIC. /basic/asic400.zip

Of course, that is only asic 4, there is asic 5 now..

No wonder shareware authors are giving up in droves... Everyone things their
stuff is free.

ASIC is shareware, it's not free. There IS a difference.

My apologies, I was in a bad mood that day. The original post asked for
*free* compilers and you responded with the name of ASIC which is shareware.
As a fellow shareware author myself, I get a little touchy about the
distinction sometimes.

It just so happens that I had received email from a user who admitted to
using one of my shareware products for a couple of years and required
'support'. He didn't understand why I wouldn't help him unless he registered
it.
