Back in the old days APL distros came with a small white plastic card
called "APL Vade Mecum" with an essentially complete summary of APL on
it. It was designed by Iverson himself. Of course, he wrote an APL
program that printed out that card.

I'm in search of that program.

Failing that, decent digital photographs of the two sides of the card.

So far, I have not been able to find either on the Internet.

If you do scan the card, please give a copy to Al Kossow at bitsavers.org

I'd like to get a copy of the scan myself. I've never seen one.

Dear Charles Richmond -

I don't know if the link to the bitsavers APL_360 Reference Card
is the actual small white plastic "APL Vade Mecum" which is being
mentioned here by Dirk Laurie. Somewhere i read it's small, white,
and credit card size.
I think my APL teacher in 1973-76 showed me such a card.
Credit-card size??? I don't remember.

The link to the Reference Card at bitsavers appears to be an IBM
reference card (very nice, thanks!) but not the one you are seeking. I
remember the small white card and I think I still have one. I will try
to find it and scan/photo it for you if I find it. It was indeed the
size of a credit card, but thinner of course. I don't recall where I got
mine - perhaps Ken gave them out at IPSA - I think I would have
remembered him doing that! Oh well, I seem to have memory parity errors too.

Yes, the APL Vade Mecum is the size of a credit card although the thickness is closer to that of a playing card. I think mine came from Gene McDonnell, perhaps when he was cleaning house at the APL Press in I.P. Sharp Associates on California Avenue in Palo Alto, California.

I am still searching (off and on) for that little white card... sorry.

It appears to have been included in Iverson's "Introduction to APL" as well.

I've been looking for this APL\360 reference card for a long time, thanks for posting the link. Of course, it's not as I remember it, as (my) memory tends to drift after 35+ years.

I've always loved APL reference cards and have a small collection. I have put Vade Mecum and the 1979 Sharp APL Reference Card out as jpegs if that is any help for you (until say 1/1/2014?) on

http:\\Robertson.uk.net\vade1.jpg
http:\\Robertson.uk.net\vade2.jpg
http:\\Robertson.uk.net\scan0001.jpg
http:\\Robertson.uk.net\scan0002.jpg
http:\\Robertson.uk.net\scan0003.jpg
http:\\Robertson.uk.net\scan0004.jpg

One attempt at a Dyalog APL reference card may be downloaded from

http:\\Robertson.uk.net\

and I can give you the Dyalog version 10.0 workspace that produces it (but not Vade Mecum I'm afraid).

Anyone who might want an APL programmer of some experience, please download my CV from

http:\\Robertson.uk.net\CV.pdf

and contact me directly by email or phone.

Cheers,
Graeme.

all of the links posted contain a trailing "/" character and therefore
do not work correctly when clicked. If you manually remove the trailing
slash all is good.

Thanks for the links. Too often I see offers to email the info in
question to a requester, while not realizing there are others of us also
interested.

Many thanks, Graeme, for the scans.

Since I noticed this thread I've been try to find my Vade Mecum I got
from a course at Cocking & Drury in the late '80s. You've saved me the
hassle of hauling even more boxes from the loft!

Great...

There seems to be renewed interest in the "APL Vade Mecum" card. I have one I purchased from APL Press (c) 1976, and it looks the same as when I bought it decades ago. Here are the images:
