COMMENTS: Our client, a large stock brokerage firm, needs a
consultant to work on their retirement account. The
project is supporting the application for retirement
plan services. The phase they are in depends on the
assignment but for the most part it's the enhancement
phase. This is 2-tier client server architecture.
There are 1-4 servers they would be working with. The
server platform is NT. It is an MS Sequel server
database with Powerbuilder on the front end. This
role is for someone with project management skills,
who understands the whole project planning life cycle
starting from calling the meeting, setting up the
project and coordinating with other support groups to
get a client server application implemented. The
first assignment for the project lead is to migrate
the application from one server to another. Daily
tasks include production support for this application
which includes minor enhancements (no need to wear a
pager). This person needs to have past hands-on
experience with Sequel server or has managed the
application in the past. Understanding terminology is
important. He/she must be technical (not super
technical) with project experience. Sequel Server as
the back end and Powerbuilder as the front. Must have
managed at least 2 client server application projects
in a large IT shop through the development and
implementation phases. Experience in providing
production support for at least 2 production systems
in a large IT shop. Must be familiar with all aspects
of project management.
