Description: A Senior Developer serves as the lead developer on a
development team. Senior developers work with the
Architecture lead in defining and developing solutions
for a client and/or product. A Senior developer has
achieved a high degree of proficiency in coding Java
based solutions and demonstrates excellent object
oriented conceptual skills. The senior developer also
has experience leading development teams and
continually motivates the team to develop solutions
that are within established coding standards. A senior
developer will also be responsible for managing task
level activities of developers on the team.
Responsibilities:
With little or no supervision, develops and builds
applications within department in a fast-paced object
oriented environment. Utilizes numerous sources to
obtain and build development skills. Must mentor
developers and jr. developers associated with skills
in software application development as needed.
Receives business requirements from client via a
Business Analyst/architect to successfully develop
applications, functions, and processes. Conducts and
is accountable for unit testing for development
assignments. Must be detail-oriented and
follow-through on issues. Must be able to work on and
manage multiple tasks in addition to working and
leading other developers. Must have strong
communication skills. Must work closely with project
analysts to meet estimated production dates for
client. Responsible for enhancing existing
applications to meet the needs of ongoing efforts
within software platforms. Records and tracks time
worked on projects and assignments.
Has an excellent understanding of project
development/management processes, methodology, and the
impact of the project management metrics. Participates
and leads in team, department, and division meetings
as required.
Education and Experience:
Candidates should have 4+ years of hands-on, object
oriented development experience, at least 2 years with
Java. Experience as a development lead in a Java
oriented environment is required. Required experience
includes OOD, Unix, Windows NT, J2EE (JSP, JMS, EJB,
Servlets, JDBC, etc.) XML, and RDMBS preferably with
Oracle 8i or 9i. Also, experience developing within an
n-tier architecture is required.
Preferred Skills:
A Computer related BS and/or Sun certified programmer
is preferred. Candidates with formal experience in
known Object Oriented methodologies will receive
special consideration. This includes UML, RUP, and
tools including Rational Rose and/or Together J.
Experience with Oracle 8i/9i and BEA Weblogic are
preferred, but not required.
