Description: Work for one of the largest writers of insurance in the US. They have been around since 1917. Great team environment. Lots of growth potential.
Work closely with users, business analysts and team members to understand business requirements and the design of technical solutions.
Involved in the full system life cycle of a data warehouse project and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing and supporting the ETL processes for data warehouse solutions and related data marts.
Perform review and analysis of the detailed system specifications related to the data warehouse ETL applications.
Identify and design technical solutions as per the requests related to the DW ETL process.
Evaluate impact of proposed changes on existing ETL applications, processes and configurations.
Design and construct the ETL program/object specifications to meet system and architecture requirements. Legacy ETL programs are written in COBOL. New ETL applications are configured in ETL tools (i.e. Ascential Datastage).
Prepare and use test data/cases to verify accuracy and completeness of ETL programs/objects.
Provide operational documentation, including Metadata as required.
Participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy vs. build recommendations.
Ensures the stable operation of ETL processes in the production environment to agreed service levels.
5 years IT development experience required in building ETL applications that utilize an RDBMS (such as Oracle, DB/2) in mainframe, Unix or client/server environments.
3 years in developing and maintaining Data Warehouse ETL applications using an ETL tool (Ascential Data Stage preferred).
Experience in COBOL programming desirable
In-depth knowledge of Data Warehouse architecture and technology trends.
In-depth knowledge of relational database technologies.
Familiarity with the relational/multidimensional data modeling techniques.
2 years Financial Services industry experience, with Insurance/Reinsurance preferred.
