I took the spinel to get set today, I picked an unusually
large/intricate (for me, anyway) setting for it. It's almost antique-y
looking. It's bezel set, with a wide-ish open work swirly scroll design
band on the sides of the stone, and the gold is almost rose tone, not
really though, it's like dark antique looking off-color gold, not bright
yellow. It reminds me of a ring like royalty would wear. I'm surprised
how much I liked it, as I usually go for very plain. You wouldn't think
it's "too much", but it almost is, for me, and yet I liked it
instantaneously when they showed it to me (it was like the 10th thing
they showed me beofre I said "THAT'S IT!" and knew it was just right for
that stone) They showed me alot of contemporary and asymmetrical stuff
first, and I responded to all of those as if I just ate a lemon. It's
also the most expensive setting I've picked so far. (more gold in the band,
I
guess). I have set it to fit on my index finger, it doesn't look quite
right on any other finger.

So I'm shopping for settings today, and one of the rings they show me is
a very plain bezel. Just a round little bezel, up on a flat band, very
very plain and I really like it alot (although not what I had in mind
for the spinel, as you can see by what I chose above). But I want this
other plain ring for another stone, and I am stumped as to what to get
next. They meaured it for me, it's 6 - 6.5mm roound, plain bezel, . What
color stone might i get for that? Yellow? Dark purple?
Blue? Pink? Light green? What should I get next? What "goes" in a plain
bezel like that? I really want to go back and buy it. Suggestions?mk5000"The
