I'd ban .pdf files for terminal bloating, and streaming for all but
real- time coverage of RL events.

When a system is set up to accomplish some goal, a
new entity has come into being--the system itself.
No matter what the "goal" of the system, it
immediately begins to exhibit system behavior; that
is, to act according to the general laws that govern
the operation of all systems. Now the system itself
has to be dealt with.

But PDF files are the only safe method of providing documents with
formatting intact.

considering every tom, dick, & harry has a pdf writer nowadays, i
agree with you. back when no one knew how to make or edit the
bastards, it served a useful function for reliable technical data.
now its just a bloated .doc file.

streaming i like. just cuz i like streams. pretty trout and beavers

Page sized .jpg files are larger than the same PDF info (unless the
PDF is all graphics, which is stupid), plus you can't copy and paste
text from them.

You also can't make multi-page .jpg files.

What's wrong with *web- pages*, using CSS, either as a multi- page
file, or multiple pages/ files, all nicely .zipped in either case?

Much more compact. And lots o' features, like linking, whether
internal or even to Internet sites, easy as pie.

Because *web- pages* aren't guaranteed to be seen in the same way on
different browsers, and because zip files are a pain in the ass.

AND because you can't print multiple web pages at one time, and
pagination can easily be affected by font size, which is different
for a great many systems.

AND because most people can't write a web page for crap.

AND because PDFs are also capable of both internal and external links
(though that's a lot more difficult).

Hi,

My name is Louise Mcquade and I go Langside College. Could tell me
if you chat is more entertainment and has more dangers than it's main
purpose, to allow people to communicate instantly from all over the
world. Also what chat software do think is the best?

ECT usage among Internet users has dropped 80% over the past 6 years.
It suffered a major setback when AOL stopped supporting it in 2001.
