Can anyone direct me to a download meter that counts total downloads?
I'm on a DSL service that has a 5 gig limit, with overcharges, so I need
this urgently.

Thanks for the response, but it's not what I'm looking for.
I'm a home user on MS Windows 98, and I need something more
basic that I can download and install. Any more ideas?

I think this is more along the lines of what your looking for. It
keeps a running total of incoming and outgoing bandwidth as well as
per session totals.

I have tried upgrades, and tried all controls I can think of, but am
still at a loss. Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you using PopUpStopper or similar apps?
PopUpStopper, and similar programs, will prevent IE from opening new
windows, try pressing the shift-key while clicking a link, with
popupstopper this
will reverse the settings in popupstopper.

I've been having the same problem for the last couple of days. I can
open a new copy of IE from the toolbar but within IE when I click on a
link a new window won't open up fully and the page just hangs. I
don't have any popup software installed but I tried pressing Shift as
suggested with no effect. Any more ideas?

I had the same problem but I reformated my computer and it worked. I
was then able to click on any link and it opened a new window browser.

Why worry about IE? It is a piece of crap any way. Try Mozilla
Firebird, you can find it here:
http://mozilla.org/projects/firebird/release-notes.html. You will be
able to open all the windows you want, and firebird features tabbed
browsing, meaning that you can view many web pages, on seperate tabs
in the same window.

Check the Microsoft knowledge Base. I think this happens also when a
certain DLL or system file is deleted by accident. Try running IE's
restore/fix function

I wouldn't say that IE is total crap... mozilla is bogged down by XUL,
and the mozilla rendering engine (used in firebird, galeon, etc) fails
as many of the w3c acid tests as IE does

I will suggest that you just forget about IE and try LINUS you'll enjoy it

I had the same prob, but I tried the MS Knowledge base and what it
says on the following link worked....

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;180176

It says that it is for ie4 only, but it also works on winXP + IE6
sp1...

Try it..
