It's the change of tense - from clear future ("will play") to implied
future ("plays") that feels unnatural to me.

Makes sense, and I should have thought that through. Still puzzled as to
why they changed it at all, though. (I get the feeling the ad.
proportion/frequency is increasing, but that may not be the case.)

What has happened since 1979, I suspect, is that the spotting of mistakes has
become entirely associated with mean-spiritedness, snobbishness and
judgementalism. But...can be...funny and interesting.
