We would like to tell you about a new art education site on the web. We
hope you like it and that you will be able to include it in your site.

Schoolart offers a user centred, searchable database for art,
craft and design education in schools. This is designed to support the
planning and delivery of art in school and should be invaluable for all
early years, primary, secondary, and K12 teachers. Schoolart is written
with all teachers in mind, including student teachers, and actively seeks
to offer the non-art trained teacher access to the best ideas of
specialist art educators. Schoolart is publishing art education material
on the world wide web because this medium offers unique advantages over
book based publications; advantages that are particularly appropriate to
creative and lateral thinking.

There are units about painting, sculpture, clay, printing, drawing,
textiles, collage, design, photography, history, criticism and much more.
Many of the units are led by issues and themes that we hope will promote
pupils and students to express their own ideas and feelings. The units
are linked and support each other. Users will find they can copy, cut and
paste text to form their own art projects. Schoolart is also developing
an imagebank with 5000 examples of art, craft and design that will be
searchable, along with the units, via key word tags.

Schoolart Magazine is part of the Schoolart site and is a free on-line
art education periodical. As Schoolart devlops there will also be links
to child centred visual art projects and other related arts and education
sites. Schoolart offers a discussion forum.

Schoolart has commissioned the first 200 units from senior UK based art
educators but will be seeking contributions from art educators throughout
the world. Schoolart is supported by the UK based National Society for
Education in Art and Design, and is sponsorted by Binney & Smith (Europe)
the manufacturers of Crayola products.

Please look at Schoolart at http://www.schoolart.co.uk and let us know
that you think either by email or through the on-line discussion forum.
Access to the searchable Schoolart database is by subscription only.
Please see details on-line.
