Name That Artist's Work
Background information: The worksheet the Nichols students used to
gather information came from: NCTE's Voices from the Middle Vol. 4
No. 3 Sept. 1997 issue, Elizabeth Canaday's Educated Eyes. Portraits
in the English Classroom. Our students then visited the URL
www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/art.art.html (Eyes on Art) and selected a
painting which they liked for the purpose of observing and reporting
what they saw:
in the face
pose
clothing
objects/setting
colors/lighting
and any additional observations
Objective: To look at the URL www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/art.art.html
and see if you can guess which painting our students have described.
Go to You Choose and then ONLY look at People. There are 40 paintings
in all.

******Culminating Activity: We notify the winning schools and send
them a certificate. We will also post the winners on our home page.
Who should take part: Participating students should be in middle
school or junior high- grades 7 or 8.

Timeline:
March 25 We send out notice
March 25-April 3 Schools must email us and let us know that they
participating.
April 6-10 We are off for our Spring Break.
April 10 We ll send out clues.
April 17 Winners will be notified.
April 25 Winner will be posted on our website and via Classroom Connect.
