I am runnng PHP 4.0.4pl1 on RedHat 7.0 and I tried to make PHP to connect
with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 on the same network.

I tried to get PHP working, but I don't know how. I read many of the
articles, they told me to download Sybase driver?? www.freetds.org

I am totally confused. Is there a easy way that I can download the RPM and
install it? I don't want to download the source code and recompile them (I
am scared, coz I am newbie). Is there an existing binary file I can
download?

I think... what I am looking for is "mssql70.so"

Thanks a lot.

N.B.

So what's the problem?

Don't think there's a binary. The freetds source is *NOT* tough to
compile, at least on an x86 machine. Face your fear of compiling; it's
not like you're compiling a kernel or glibc2.1 or anything that could
seriously screw up your system. You want to stay a raw newbie forever?
The FAQ on the freetds site explains what to do; read it and follow the
directions.

Also, when it comes time to "make check", look in the freetds directory
for a file called "PWD". Change the database/username/password values
in there to something that makes sense on the SQL Server you're
connecting to. This will help you avoid unnecessary pain, and it wasn't
documented anywhere. HTH,
