why won't my directory with files appear on a browser as a list?

You need to supply your Apache directory structure as well as all
pertinent Directory blocks. It's the easiest way. Email me directly
if you don't feel comfortable doing it here.

Have you enabled Indexing in your Options?

I don't know. It loads quick enough, but it is different graphics that do
not load each time I try to reload it. Maybe you do not have enough httpd
processes to handle that many images, or are on a busy server?
