2 that I've used are http-analyze from
http://www.netstore.de/Supply/http-analyze/ and weblog from
http://awsd.com/scripts/weblog/.

It's not exactly "free", it's shareware.... but it's very good at
analyzing server logs.

there is also a great tool which depend on http-analyze :
webalyzer <http://www.usagl.net/webalizer/>
it's very easy to set up (compile (you'll need libgd) and run with your
log file, fast (process a 10MB log each month in less than 5 sec).
Also, it gives some pretty reports all graphical with top 10, 30, 50...
servers, domains etc.

'worth a try

another one which is not as fast but still ok

Yahoo has a page of about 20-30 analysis tools. Free and commercial. I
agree with Cyril..the webalizer is great. My customers love it.

Does anyone know of a log analizer that will handle virtual hosts and
will split out all of the virtual hosts from one log file and create
individual reports for each vitual host listed in the log?

When I had to do this once upon a time, I split the log file using a
small perl script and ran analog on each output file. Very simple.

I split the logs into the virtual domains. I then use "wusage" from
www.boutell.com. It graphs out nicely the hits to the web servers.
It's pretty flexible and works, I believe, on any *nix platform.
If it is not on your unix, they can make it. You view the
reports/graphs
from your browser. I put the www.getgrades.com logs on
test.getgrades.com
and password protect test.getgrades.com, then anyone in your company can
look at the logs anywhere in the world. If you'd like to look at my
site's
logs, just e-mail me and I can show you what they can look like.
I believe, wusage is also available for a 60 day trial right from their
web site.

Just puttin' in my 2 cents.
