Harmless Apache error "Invalid method in request G"?

Running Apache 1.3.1, I receive quite few errors like the following:

[Wed Sep 9 21:24:20 1998] [error] Invalid method in request G

I can't see any obvious harm from this, nor can I figure out what
it is caused by?

Any suggestions or ideas?
