metamail and mozilla/netscape

I just upgraded from mozilla-1.4 to mozilla-1.7, and also from mplayerplug-
in-2.60 to mplayerplug-in-3.16. My whole browser world is now screwed up
about 12 ways. I am running Red Hat WS3.

For starters, I'll ask about one phenomenon that might be straightforward.
When I call metamail-2.7 now, it brings up netscape instead of mozilla. The
metamail manual says that mailcap is used to decide. I have two such files,
~/.mailcap and /etc/mailcap, and neither has changed in months.
Any ideas why this changed subsequent to upgrading mozilla? Thanks.
