Hi,
Whenever I try to use netscape it won't load pages. It gives the either
a cannot connect to host or Netscape connection timed out. It does this
with every page that I try to load including my providers home page
and all the pages in my bookmark.htm file. so I know that it's not
pages problem but netscapes. Please help I need to get this fixed. also
I need to know if the new netscape will run under windows 3.1 with
the 32bit extensions installed or just under win95?
TIA
Tommy

If you mean by "new" Netscape the 16-bit version 1.1, it will work
fine with WIndows 3.1 and Win32s so long as the version of Win32s is
1.2 or later. If not, you must remove your Win32s or update it by
downloading from:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/

download pw1118.exe

This is v. 1.25A of win32s released last month

If you try to use the 32-bit version of Netscape, it will not work
unless you have a true 32-bit system like Windows 95. (Some postings
here say it does work with Windows 3.1 and Win32s but I tried it and
got the message that an OLE file was not available).

Hi,

As far as I remember Netscape 1.1 32bit require a true 32bit
environment, so Win32s is not good enough, Win NT and Win 95 should be
OK though.

For Win 31 and WfWG 3.11 use the 16 bit version.

This is mentioned in the release notes I believe ;-)

Cheers! :-)

Actually it says:"
Installation
Version 1.1 is being distributed as both a 16-bit Windows program and
a 32-bit windows program. If you are running Win3.x you must use the
16-bit version even if you are running Win32s, because the 32-bit
version makes use of 32-bit API calls not supported by Win32s.

..
If you are running version 1.15 or below of Win32s, you will be unable to
install the Netscape Navigator unless you upgrade to version 1.20 of Win32s
or you remove Win32."

But what do I know; I am a Mac User.

This sounds as if your PPP or SLIP connection is not set up correctly.

Have you gotten back a successful PING test? Does E-Mail work?
How about other applications like Usenet News readers?
