Take a look at <http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutors/> - Joe Burns's
lessons about learning HTML. There are a whole lot of lessons and
examples there, which cover everything from what software you can use to
make a web site to how to make it work on the server.

You might also want to look at his book "HTML Goodies" - it might be
easier to keep track of where you are as you work through the exercises,
and you can make notes in a book too.

Big tip!, dont code in pure HTML, is overkill, like buying a ferri and onl6y
driving to the corner shop.

get youself an editor.

NOT A WYSIWYG ONE - like dreamweaver, frontpage etc etc - THEY ARE SHIT
(they are difficult to have full control - the only reason for hand coding,
and spit out messy code)

get hot metal, version 5 is out but expensive, however you can get a free
light version 2 or 3 (not really lite at all!) from www.softquad.com

it is semi wysiwyg, graphically showing the tags on screen, so you are
learning html without realising, but is is so much easer to get going with.

Its what i learnt with, i made www.gardenmachinery.com, www.dlg,co.uk,
www.kitty5.dial.pipex.com, www.kitty5.dial.pipex.com/design/

and many more.

if you like the lite versions, get the full thing, its well worth it, as
earlier versions are VERY code specific, so you will have problems using
poor code - usually from free homepage goodie's.

if you not using windoze, then your stuffed, sorry.

if you do get it and want some help, just mail me anytime, save the groups
bandwidth!

Rick :)

I'd certainly be eager to use anything recommended by a company that is,
"Providing an untmached service". Sort out your meta tags man.

Learn to use Dreamweaver properly. Idiot. You clearly don't see that
Dreameaver is far from shit (though you may be right about FP)

Nice marketing plug for your business, but calling the stuff I use
(Dreamweaver 2.0) "shit" is not great marketing.

but, just as a ferrari goes faster and handles better than a chevy, hand coding
gives you more control and a better understanding of what's going on once you
learn it. for now, start with an editor, but learn how the code works
eventually!

simply not true. BBEdit on the Mac is an excellent editor! Dreamweaver,
PageMill, GoLive Cyberstudio and FrontPage are also available on the Mac. rick
is obviously a windows user who isn't paying attention.

this would have been a great idea in your case, rick.

good luck, "Frederick"!
