Make a little round black-dot gif. Don't count on the

+ i read faq and could not find this, the fat black dot that is used for
+ list items. i am wondering if there is an entity reference that will
+ allow one to explicitly insert a fat dot else where. thanks for any
+ info.
<ul>
<li> {some text after the bullet here}
</ul>
James - tho the bullet might be available as a text character...
Can't be done. The only characters you can specify as character entities
under standard html are the so-called ISO 8859 (Latin-1) character set,
which does _not_ include the "bullet" symbol.
The <UL> list may be rendered with bullets if the browser has that
capability, as many do. Others just use the letter o for the
list. In any case, you have no control over that.
The usual answer is to just make a little transparent GIF of the bullet
you want, then use it as an inline image.

try comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html
(hint, it has to do with IMG SRC="mydot.gif" or whatever).
