[This group is provided on Usenet for the tasteful and meaningful
interchange of information concerning the topic of asphyxiation as it
applies to *sexual asphyxiation.]

Postings usually contain discussion on general asphyxia, auto
asphyxia, autoerotic asphyxia, erotic asphyxia, suffocation, choking,
hanging, drowning, near death experiences and similar related topics.
The context of the articles should be about "SEXUAL" asphyxia & sexual
asphyxia foreplay since that is the newsgroup name.
These posts take the form of personal experiences, fictional stories,
related URLs and statistical information such as
asphyxiation related deaths.
Although the topic of the group is primarily related to asphyxia as it
applies to oxygen depravation during sex, the group has widened it's
scope to include the areas of asphyxia related death reports and
fantasies (hangings, drowning, etc.)

The group deals with the topic of breath control during sex. The
group does not deal with DEATH as some of the other newsgroups do.

#03 WHERE ARE ALL THE PICTURES?

In the beginning of April 1998, Usenet,Uunet
In2.uu.net Newsfeed.internetmci.com and other
news servers and ISP's (YOUR Internet provider)
decided to re-implement the regulation/policy that
non-binary news groups shall only be allowed to post
TEXT headers and articles in those groups.
Alt.Sex.Asphyx was chartered as a NON-BINARY
news group.
What this means is that you will no longer be able to
post photos (binaries) to this group. As soon as you
post them your ISP will delete them before they ever
reach the news group.
There are numerous other types of posts that are
also immediately canceled but most are concerned
with the photos.
Towards the end of April 98 the ASA group decided
to merge with a binary news group in order to be able
to continue to post our favorite photos.
The name of the group that you can now post your
ASA photos to is
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.fetish.neck
Most of us will continue to use the ASA-
prefix to identify our posts to ASA subscribers.
It has been determined that we will move entirely
to the new group for all photos comments and articles.
You can search your news list or news browser to
find this group the same way that you found ASA.
If you find that the group is not listed yet then you
will need to send a short email to your ISP tech
or news support team member and say
"would you please turn on this news group
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.fetish.neck
and set the display time to 48-72 hours"

#05 PREFIXING YOUR POSTS.
*************************
Whenever you are posting to alt.sex.asphyxia,
put "ASA" in the beginning of the subject line, as in
Subject: ASA: A question about hanging.
or ASA-Photo of girl choked and banged- gotcha.gif
This will ensure that your post will not be lost in the sea of SPAM.
Many people use filters to display only the posts containing the "ASA"
prefix. When replying to a post that doesn't have the "ASA" prefix,
edit the subject line and put the prefix in front of everything else.

#06 WHEN DO POSTS APPEAR?
*************************
Posting is usually light in the beginning of
the week and picks up around Thursday afternoon EST with the heaviest
activity from Friday to Sunday night. Faster server news hosts will
see the posts the same night as they are posted. Slower servers will
see the posts the next night. Multipart messages often DO NOT arrive
together so if you see an incomplete message attachment, wait a few
days to see when (or if) it arrives. Some servers have limited
resources and will only pick up some or parts of posts. If this
happens regularly, dump your provider and sign up with someone else.

#07 WHEN DO POST DISAPPEAR?
***************************
That depends on your server, provider and the
amount of disk space available on your network. Some posts are
retained up to 30 days on some servers while others are deleted after
only 3 days. You would have to check with your provider to find out
more information. A little know fact is that you can email your
provider and ask to extend the hours before header, article and binary
are removed from your server. Binaries are removed first, articles
next and headers last. Most newsreading programs have a RELOAD
function that will allow you to recall past posts, articles and
headers back to the most recently deleted posts. Multi-part posts are
usually deleted in their entirety but not always.

#08 CAN I TEST POSTS?

Sometime we get a mass of test posts. They are
not wanted and unappreciated. There are a half dozen newsgroups that
you can do a test post in and check your work. These groups are
monitored and files deleted regularly so as not to take up wasted
bandwidth.

#09 CAN I CROSS POSTS?
**********************
Cross posts are not appreciated to the ASA group.
Each newsgroup has it's share of problems here and there. The only
times that the ASA group has been investigated or had some major
controversy have been as a result of crossposting or someone replying
to a crosspost to the group.
If you have a post that is for one group but might slightly be of
interest to the ASA group then post it in the topic group and then
post a message in ASA about where the post is located and let the
individual decide if they want to go to that group and view it.
Otherwise, post your message separately to ASA.
Always check what groups you are replying to on an article. IF you
want to make a comment to the ASA group concerning a crossposted
article then go to the groups line and edit out ALL of the other
newsgroups except alt.sex.asphyx before you hit the POST button.

It's just that. Garbage. Since our newgroup has the word SEX
in it, we are bombarded with junk posts and advertisements that are
crossposted to other BINARY and SEX groups (the so-called SPAM).
Occasionally we also get caught up in group warfare where advocates
of a "kinder and gentler" Usenet will include us in their crossposts
to spread their opinion or propaganda. NEVER click on one of these
post to follow-up or flame the originator. (see CROSSPOSTING) The
crosspost reply will follow back across every group that the original
post was crossposted to. Someone else will crosspost your crosspost
and. . . . . .
There is information provided in most Usenet groups for dealing with
these posts, the originators and their providers. Deal with them
directly. Not via the newsgroup.

#14 HOW DO I DOWNLOAD AND POST ARTICLES?

Here are some clips from the more popular FAQS from other newsgroups.
All of the information is not pertinent to this group but can still be
useful to help an author originate a text or binary posting. If you
need help, ask for it. Most users are greedy and will gladly help you
in posting to the group if for no other reason than to expand their
own horizons. If you are not familiar with posting then do not use
this newsgroup as a test bed. There are a number of groups set aside
with built-in safeties just for testing your posts. You should not
have to worry about corrupting anyones files or system if you
experiment within these groups. Just be sure to test using something
that is not copy written or objectionable to anyone who may compare
your test post to theirs .
POSTING:
When someone posts an article to their local server, it not
only is seen by other news reader programs using that server, but
potentially many other servers. This affiliation of news servers is
called USENET. USENET uses the Internet, uucp and other networks to
send articles from one server to another. USENET articles are sent
from one news server to another via a protocol that can be thought of
as inter-server e-mail.

POSTING TEXT.
Here's a few guidelines that will help you post readable text articles.
1. All posts should be in ASCII (text-only) format. If you use an
external editor to create your text (as when you are attaching a
story), don't post in that editor's native format. Practically every
editor has an option of saving documents in "text" or "ASCII" format.
(Note for Microsoft Word users: save as "MS DOS text with line
breaks"). Watch for special characters that some editors use, such as
special quotes, etc. These will be screwed up in many news readers.
2. Encode only binary data, do not encode text. Encoding text is
unnecessary, it creates difficulties for the readers, and causes
Dejanews (and probably some other archivers and news servers) to
mistake it for a binary and delete the whole encoded message.
Compressing and encoding text causes even more difficulties, and
doesn't save much space (note that encoding increases the size of the
message by about 1/3).
3. Keep your line length under 75 characters. This will prevent
broken lines and other problems. Some news readers have difficulty
handling long lines, and printing out such message would result in a
problem. Make sure your editor puts line breaks in paragraphs (see
1). Do not use proportional fonts (use Courier or Courier New in
Windows and MAC)
4. The best text flow is the simplest: leave a blank line between
paragraphs, do not indent unless necessary (by all means, do not
indent the whole message!), use quotes (and preferably new lines) for
dialogue. Fancy formatting often results in unreadable message.

#15 CONDUCT ON THE NEWSGROUPS

FLAMES.
Flame posts are not appreciated by the group. If you have a
problem with someone on the group, take it off the group and contact
them directly. Just because you have a grip does not mean that the
rest of the group agrees with you. If they do, and they all contact
the person directly then a change may occur. Public humiliation
usually does not effect a positive result. (This applies only to
posters. A person who never posts, has NO right to complain about
someone else who is contributing to the group.)
CANCELS.
Learn to cancel your own posts, so if you goof up, you can
at least delete it and try again . Most news posting programs have a
function that will allow you to go back and cancel your own post.
GIRLS.
So what is the chief complaint that the girls have about the
news groups? That answer to that one is constantly "the guys !".
Ladies, if you post to the newsgroup and get any unwanted email from
a male member, do not reply to the sender. Instead, post his entire
email message complete with headers and return address on the
newsgroup with a subject line that lets us all know what transpired.
We will take it from there. We want you girls involved in the group.
Hassle free.
There are very few women who will post to the news groups anymore.
Why? Because of a few guys who take it as an open invitation to
solicit the girls directly with all of their fantasies and
invitations.
GUYS.
If you see a girl posting to the newsgroup and she does not
specifically ask you directly to email her then LEAVE HER ALONE. She
did come to this group for your personal gratification. She is just
another subscriber with a similar interest.

#16 MISSING OR PARTIAL POSTS.

Below are some hints on reading the groups.
1) Get a good news reader, I use NEWS EXPRESS, though winvn seems
good, if you use netcom, don't bother with the built in one, it sucks.

Check out the graphics programs while you are there. Vueprint is

2) If you see a post you want, save all the parts that you see, and
wait a day or so, sometimes (in netcoms case, often) the rest of the
parts will appear. In agent, simply choose keep article, and it will
save the article until all the parts are there, or until you delete
the headers (or the article becomes unavailable). This works well,
especially when someone is posting a multi part file, and you log on
during the upload. This does not always work, but it will increase
your odds of getting the post somewhat.
3) Complain to your provider!!!! Complain loud and often! You are
paying for access, and if they don't provide what your looking for,
try someone else. The days of the all powerful provider are over,
competition is stiff, so look around! It would be a good idea to make
sure someone else in your area provides service BEFORE complaining too
much <g>
4) Make sure you have the right settings in your reader! Read the
help files, call the software vendor, etc. Do your homework!

#17 BEING ANONYMOUS
********************
Sometime people will not post to a particular newsgroup such as ASA
in fear of being ridiculed by employers, coworkers, family members
or friends. Others are either not so concerned or just don't give a
damn what others think. If you are in the first category then there
is hope for you. There are news services, email-news services and
other courses that you can subscribe to and make yourself as anonymous
as you want to be. Since these services often change their IP
addresses and URLs to keep hackers from cracking their protections
they can sometimes be hard to find. They become anonymous themselves. You have
to look around, ask questions and find them.
Sometimes being anonymous can be as simple as changing the setup
options in your news reader. Your reader may offer a function where
your login name differs from your posting name, organization and email
address. If you really want to participate in a group then take the
time to look around and see what your options are. You may find a
free service that you like but most times you will incur a charge for
the services. If you really want to be involved your only deterrent
would be how much you are willing to pay for your level of anon.
There is another way to be anonymous. Let someone else do your
posting for you. There are many regulars on the ASA newsgroup who
offer to post for people who can not post to the group, don't yet know
how to post or are reluctant to post. After visiting the group for a
while you will get a feel for group and an idea of who you may want to
contact to ask if they are willing to be your middleman. Email the
person and introduce yourself with some valid credentials as to your
age and intent. If the person does not have the time or flat out
refuses to take your introduction or posts then try someone else. Be
courteous. You are the one that is asking for the favor. The
internet is full of corruption and decent. Don't be surprised if
someone says that they are willing to help but first want to you send
a blood sample, birth certificate, fingerprints, bonding, security
clearance, and a note from your mother. They are also trying to
protect themselves.

#18 BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU POST

Just in case you were not aware of it; What you say on USENET is now
archived.. publicly. In the old days (pre DejaNews) you could
embarrass yourself in the newsgroups and be confident that after a
week or two that whatever you regretted having posted would be gone.
deleted, forgotten.
Now anyone can do an author search on a news service and see every
thing anyone has posted in the last few years. Anything that you post
or say on any newgroup is going to remain with you forever. Be
careful with the personal information you give out.
Information as to who reads what newsgroups, when and how often, is
undeniably valuable to many commercial, government, and law
enforcement agencies. It is also valuable to stalkers and salesmen.
When you post to a newsgroup just vision in your mind that you are
standing on a platform in front of cameras and tape recorders.

#19 COOKIES, VIRUSES AND SPAM

COOKIES If you want to find out more about how cookies may be

posting via a news service you may want to check on what you are

but look around for the topic that you are interested in.

VIRUSES There are many virus programs circulating around the
newsgroups. Be careful what you download. Safe programs are usually
extended with GIF JPG JPE JPEG AVI MPG MPEG PCX TIF TGA BMP RLE WPG
PPM MOV WAV and so on. Avoid files that end in COM BAT EXE APP DOC.
If you download a ZIP file, use a zip viewer to check the files first
and see exactly what is contained in the zip file before you
uncompress it. Even then, it is a good idea to have a virus checker
running. If the Text file needs to be run via Word for Windows or a
full text editor then beware. Doc files can contain MACRO viruses
which if created properly can be very nasty at erasing things on your
drive.
SPAM REQUESTS FOR EMAIL PICS Excessive posting and Crossposting make
for a big headache in our news group. This is nothing new as it also
goes on in other newsgroups. One other thing that appears in our
group that should also be considered SPAM (and ignored) is those
commercial sites and the selfish picture grabbers that post a message
stating that they "have pics to TRADE or SWAP. Email me."
Granted, there are some positive reasons why someone would make a post
asking for trading off-line, but since the FAQ is for newbies I will
only point out some of the things to be wary of that have happened
over the years.
Since you don't know who is on the other end you have to suspect that;
1 They are just out to increase their own collection , have no
interest in the group and will most likely not send you much in
return. They are reading the group and getting the same pics that the
rest of is are but are unwilling to share their stuff with the rest of
us. They will most certainly inquire if you have anything in your
private collection that they can scam you out of and maybe sell
somewhere.
2. They are a commercial outfit looking for email addresses.
3. The poster has a grudge against someone and is giving this persons
email address out to use you to hassle them. This has happened here.
4. They are a minor. (enough said)
5. There might be some covert reason for requesting that you contact
them directly. They can read and post to the group so there should be
no reason for you to email them directly. Since they gave an email
address they certainly are not trying to be anonymous.
6. They may be a newbie that doesn't know how to post and figures that
it would be easier to email stuff. In your reply, only offer to show
them how to post. See what happens.
You have to watch your back if for some reason you decide to reply to
these posts. Since they are not regular posters on the group, you do
not have any idea as to there background or intentions. The safest
thing is to just consider these posts as SPAM and ignore them
completely. The safest way to get your pics is off the group.

#20 STAYING OUT OF TROUBLE

This is a new one that has cropped up recently. Once in a
while we get a post (usually a crosspost) on the group that advertises
that they are a willing subject to be snuffed (killed) and asks for

breath control: used in D/S sex play, often as a means of inducing
*sexual asphyxia. See *smothering and *strangling
gasper: slang term that refers to a person who practices sexual
