Our company is preparing to purchase a RDBMS to store registration
information from our Web site. The data will be put into the database with
either C or Perl.
Oracle, Sybase, and Informix are touting their advantages, making it a bit
difficult to decide at this point.
Does anyone out there have any 'unbiased' opinions/advice/experiences that
might help us out with out decision?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Netscape has the Live Wire Pro package which comes with Informix, Netscape
Enterprise Server, and some other nice stuff all for about $1200.
This is definitely a good deal.
Which is best will depend on your requirements, but don't worry- any of them
should be "good enough." Web specific features might be different with
the different databases, but if you use C or Perl you probably won't be
using their web features. Maybe. And you can always use some tool to
give you better Web support anyway, or scalability, etc.
So don't worry. Pick any one, and know that roughly 2/3 of the rest of us
picked a different one.
Of course, once you pick a database you'll need an OS, and then there is
only one correct answer. Please post here to start a religious war ;->
Good luck,

I / We here use unisql for www applications. It also acts as a hub
talking to our mvs / oracle / informix / sybase or just about anything
else you can think of. It is quite easy to use / learn.
I do mostly SQL in line C programming with the addition of cgic library
it's a breeze to turn out nice apps.
