Strange behavior from my pygopherd that I have run a few years now. I
use it mostly to post screenshots. Just dump the png in there and have
it displayed - that's what Gopher is about, after all.

Suddenly, it won't display anything new. I made sure the owner and
permissions are all the same as the existing, working files, but no
luck.

Here's the directory:
gopher://vector.crommatograph.info/1/screenshots

Here's part of the dir on disk:

-rwx------ 1 gopher wheel 22665 Apr 3 2008 daem.png
-rwx------ 1 gopher wheel 9872 Aug 1 2008 dialog-quadrat.png
-rwx------ 1 gopher wheel 53683 Aug 7 21:53 faceheader.png
-rwx------ 1 gopher wheel 1675 Oct 7 2008 gevierte.png
-rwx------ 1 gopher wheel 1927 Oct 7 2008 gevierte2.png

As you can see, faceheader.png won't show.

When I type the address in by hand:

gopher://vector.crommatograph.info/I/screenshots/faceheader.png

Firefox tells me it "cannot be displayed, because it contains errors".
Well, there's nothing wrong with the file, unless cp destroyed it.

Via http://vector.crommatograph.info:70/screenshots/faceheader.png, at
least I get a message from pygopherd

| '/screenshots/faceheader.png' does not exist (no handler found)

I tried with a txt file and with a folder, too, but no new files are
showing up. I also restarted pygopherd with the new file already in
place. Won't help. How can I find out what's going on? I guess there's
no log because for pygopherd, it's not really an error, it just doesn't
see the files.

hey mate !
I'm only bringing up my gopher sites and they aren't online yet, but
have been thru similar struggles. (but it'd had intensive one on one
help ! Thx brianko ,zcrayfish et al.)
it was only first bringup
Are you (still) running pygopherd in chroot ? - this is an option in
the pygopherd.conf.

Maybe joining the chat could be a good idea?

Yes, I do. How do you think this may be related?

Thanks,
Oliver

I don't know how it changes things. But when i set it to no.
Essentially the error you are getting from pygopherd Is a file not
found. It cannot see the files u are adding.
It worked for me.On Aug 9, 9:50 am, Oliver Cromm
