A few years ago I read of a gadget that is fitted in place of the pen assembly
of larger pen plotters, converting the plotter into a scanner. Can someone
give me any information on such a setup?

We are using such a system from Houston Instruments. The scanner head is called
SCANCAD, which may be mounted on a HI 60 series plotter and operated by a PC sof
tware. It works pretty good. Again, please drop me a mail if you need more info.
