I bought a used IBM Thinkpad from Ebay. It's an I series, 1300. It's nice,
but I installed windows 2000, erasing the Windows ME that came with it. I
need to install many new drivers now, but IBM has many drivers for many
subspecies of this laptop, and I don't know which drivers to pick. Each
driver is specific to the subspecie of this laptop. The tag that
identifies the laptop's specific type, on the bottom of it, was removed
before I got it. Does anyone know how to find the exact type?
Thanks, steve w.

Steve,

Visit the IBM support site and utilize their automatic
model/configuration utility. It downloads a program to fetch the info
from your system and supplies you with the Model Type (a seven
character designation.)

You can then search there for the appropriate drivers for your unit.
Follow the directions for installation VERY carefully. Further,
completely exit all anti-virus programs BEFORE attempting to install
any drivers...ALWAYS!
