Hi all. I could use some help with the following problem:

On my Windows ME system, I am now getting a symptom where the screen freezes
up, the cursor freezes up. The green light indicating hard drive activity is
steadily on (no flickering). After a few minutes, I then get a blue screen
message that says:

Disk Write Error
Unable to write to disk in drive C.
Data or files may be lost.

I'm trying to figure out what might be going wrong to cause this symptom,
which is happening more frequently lately.

Is it a function of hard drive failure? Or of having too low system
resources? Or what?

I could use all the help I can get on this one.

Thanks very much.

Hello Jason:
It may mean your hard drive is dying. If you hear any sort of unusual
sound (clicking, ticking, scraping) when your computer appears to freeze,
your drive is most certainly dying.
I'd back up your data and then look into getting the drive replaced.
