Hello,

My name is Kevin Barrett. I am the Applications Engineer for Applied
Digital, Inc. I will be scanning this news group as often as possible.

I have been told by my customers that there is a belief that Applied
Digital, Inc. is not serious about pursuing the home automation
market. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Applied Digital, Inc. is currently developing the REDAC-LT. The
REDAC-LT will be an extreamly expanable and easy way to automate your
home.

The REDAC-LT will use a Daisy-chain configuration to automate your
home easily. A front desk unit will connect to your PC. It will have
the X-10 controller built in, an RS-232 port to connect it to the PC
and a ADNET port. Modules which will provide Relay outputs, Digital
Inputs, analog inputs, etc. will connect on the ADNET line in a
daisy-chain connection.

The starter kit will contain a front desk controller, and the Secu16
module. The Secu16 module will contain 8 relay inputs, and 8
supervised inputs (Contact closure or A/D inputs). The Secu16 (and all
subsiquent modules) will be enclosed in a plastic container. The front
desk controller unit, the REDAC-LT is tentatively prices at $99.00.
The Secu16 is also tentatively priced at $99.00.

The REDAC-LT is tentatively schuduled for release in 01/01/97.

Windows interface software will be provided, with source code
included.

If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me on
this news group. Applied Digital, Inc. Is also setting up a web page
at appdig.com. It is currently under construction, so watch your step.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Sincerely,

Kevin Barrett
Applications Engineer,

Hi,

This looks very sexy !!

Will the Redac-lt support 220V/50Hz installation?
If yes:
-I'm ready to beta test these things in Belgium.
- Do you have a company selling your 220V/50Hz equipment (if any) overhere
in Belgium?

I' m certainly interested in knowing more about it. If you have any further
details. Let me know.

In general: My company is interested in importing 220V/50Hz X10 stuff from
the US or any other country.
We can provide for CE certification / adequate marketing / local training
and so on.
"Conversions" of certain equipment to more European standards (220V) are
possible within my company.

Anybody reading this message and interested in doing (SERIOUS !) business
with Belgium is welcome.

Please E-Mail s...@olivetti.be or send me a letter:

Two questions:

1. Is the serial protocol fully documented so the unit can be used
from a non-PC platform?

2. Is it possible to operate the unit without polling? In other words,
can it send a serial message when an input changes state?
