Hi Folks,

I saw a neat little touch screen a while ago, and if I am not mistaken
it is made by a company in New Mexico that had something to do with the
Secant / Cardio unit of a few years back.

Can anyone direct me to their web site?

A little more info.

I saw the company at the EH Expo in Long Beach.

It wasn't Secant in Canada, but I think they were at one time affiliated.

It was about a 1/4 VGA Monochrome touch screen with an infrared port on, I
think , the bottom of the screen bezel.

I haven't found anything using search engines and would like to get a
second look.

Thanks

That almost sounds like a Leopard...

They've recently changed the name of the system to "em.power" and have added
energy management and whole-house audio (OEM of the Russound CA4.6) where
the touchscreens have the audio control built-in. This is an awesome
system--extremely easy to use, as you can use the touchscreens to control
HVAC, X10, IR, security, audio, energy management, and you can even program
the system from the touchscreen. You could achieve similar functionality
with a HAI Omni and Crestron touchscreens, except the em.power would be
cheaper, more integrated, and easier to use/program.

I'm having one installed now. See an earlier post of mine in this newsgroup
for more details.

This sounds like the ID-75 from MassWorks.

They are on sale now for $249.

Actually, I believe that is the system from Smart Systems Technologies
(http://www.smartsystemstech.com/). SST used to be a distributor for the
Cardio from Secant (http://www.secant.ca) and now they manufacture their own
version called "em.power". I am very impressed with this system, especially
with what SST has done with it since the original Cardio. I should be
receiving a quote within the next couple of days to install six of these
with the 'Smart Audio' option which is basically an integrated Russound
CA6.4. I've read that the base system is around $5,000 including one
touchscreen, two keys (iButtons), a keyreader, and installation. Some may
think this is a bit much but I think its cheap considering you get a very
nice graphical touchscreen, a built-in security system, the iButtons, a
built-in thermostat, built-in IR, built-in whole-house audio control, and a
built-in automation controller that allows very easy user programming of
scenes, schedules, conditional logic, reminders, telephone access, occupancy
sensing, and on and on.

Check out their web site for more info and Secant's web site to download the
user manual for their old system.
