TOTAL Recall: Spam removal and message recall email tool for IBM Notes
Protect your network from hackers! Central control for risk aversion.

• TOTAL Recall can protect your network from hackers (phishing, hijacking, malware, randsomware) if spam messages slip undetected into user mailboxes. It allows IT help desk and Domino administrators to recall spam messages sent by an external sender from all mailboxes. For example, if multiple users receive a malicious email from an external sender it can recalled in a single click.
• TOTAL Recall allows IT help desk and Domino administrators to recall internally sent email messages. For example, if an internal user sends a confidential email to the wrong person, or a terminated employee sends a malicious email it can be recalled in a single click. It can also be configured to allow end users to recall their own messages. It can be your insurance policy to prevent possible legal disasters costing millions of dollars, for example, as seen with incidents in the media and automotive industry.

If central control and risk aversion is important to your company you should be using TOTAL Recall.

IBM's Verse: Can Watson ultimately be your inbox jockey?
IBM's reinvented email and collaboration software, dubbed Verse, comes with a Watson option where you can ask a question and get an email answer. Here's what I'd really want Watson to do for me. According to Jeff Schick, general manager of IBM Enterprise Social Solutions, says the promise of Verse is "mail that understands you." The idea is to create software that allows large global teams to collaborate at scale like those two-pizza small teams enterprises use to actually get things done, added Phil Gilbert, general manager of IBM Design. The best way to get to that mail understanding is to deploy Watson better. Verse will have a Watson Analytics option. The option includes the ability to ask Watson a question and get an email reply with an answer. Today, Watson will be an up sell to the freemium Verse.

NoSQL: The Love Child of Google, Amazon and... IBM Notes
CouchDB creator Damien Katz wasn't inspired by Google or Amazon or any other web giant. He was inspired by Lotus Notes, an online collaboration platform originally developed in the 1970s and '80s. Although Notes is best known as an email system, it was more than that. "It was a sophisticated system that made it easy to do things that are hard to do with relational databases." It was a foundation for building applications that depended on databases – i.e., organized collections of information. Using Notes, businesses built everything from expense-reporting applications to IT help desk tools. Katz was among those who built such applications – he got his start developing Notes apps for Lotus itself, in 1995 – and he says that even then, the platform demonstrated many of the same characteristics that have made today's NoSQL databases so successful.

What's the big deal? NoSQL Databases like MongoDB and CouchDB (conceived by experience with IBM Notes DB)
Apache CouchDB has an interesting story behind it for us at IBM. It was created by Damien Katz, a former IBM'er from his experience with IBM's Lotus Notes database, which is also a document db. So if one wants to, and who doesn't, one can say that IBM and Lotus Notes has given birth to one of the hottest open source document databases in the market today. MongoDB is popular in the cloud while CouchDB also is popular on smartphones because of its synchronization functionality. For example it runs in an Erlang VM on Android. Two very interesting NoSQL databases that we hear more and more about these days.

Self-driving cars could make jaywalking legal
Self-driving cars could convert cities into pedestrian paradises. A report released this week from the National Association of City Transportation Officials, a nonprofit representing cities on transportation issues, lays out a vision for the future of city streets as autonomous vehicles arrive. Some cities look to NACTO for recommendations, but it's unclear if cities will adopt its guidance.
