Hi,
I am starting to learn developing web sites with Lotus Notes. I have a copy
of a functional Notes database that I would like to play with. However I
can't preview this local database both with Notes browser and IE.

Do I have to have a Domino server running on my computer to preview a local
database? If not, can I just browse to the database using Notes Browser and
an URL like http://localhost/... . When I try this, it only attempts to
download the database.

Thanks,
taner

Launch NHTTP.EXE manually and you can preview your website using
http://localhost...

In article <b2ua6a$23cs$1...@msunews.cl.msu.edu>, eski...@msu.edu says...
You do not need a Domino server running on your machine. You should be
able to just select Actions/Preview in web browser from within Domino
Designer, and all your links should work.
Have you tried that? and do you get some error message?

Make sure you have given default or anonymuous the right access.. On the
localhost, you do not have the user authenticated!

I tried to preview databases for such a long time, I was about to give up
and try to run a server.

When I try to preview my local directory, I get the message "Plug-in Not
Found. This document contains information of type which can only be
displayed by the appropriate Plug-in. What would you like to do?". Then it
creates a .dat file that says it is a 404 error. I tried to set the plug-in
directory to IE's plug-in directory but that did not work. The same thing
happens when I try to preview a database on a domino domain on which I have
manager rights.

Thanks a lot for your time.

NHTTP worked beautifully on my desktop, but not on my laptop. I get the
error message "Invalid HTT file cache directory specified in NAB". I believe
NAB stands for Notes Address Book, but I could not find anything regarding
cache directory in my address book.

Thanks a lot for your time,
taner

I selected User Preferences / Security Options and and updated default
access. I also gave myself full access to everything. That didn't seem to
help.

Thanks a lot for your time,
taner

Did you install the Web services when you installed Notes on your laptop?
(you have to do a custom installation - not the standard)

I have the IIS installed. Win web server is running and its home directory
is set to Notes Data directory.

Thanks again,
