We having the problem reading Chinese fonts too.
We have consulted the lotus support in Malaysia, they said we must install 3rd party software (e.g.. NJStar) to read Chinese fonts. I tried install NJStar (trial version) , it work. But if we are going to install all legal copies of NJStar, we rather change the whole email system to Microsoft Exchange Server.

We really regret purchased the IBM hardware system which come with free Domino Server.

Hi Billy,

We already solved the Chinese Font display problem without any illegal 3rd party software. Since Notes R5 support multi-langue. display. Therefore, It should be display-out the any Language at Notes Client.

U can try go to the "uers perfreence" > Basic > Default Fonts > Default Monospace font > MingLiu. Then, U can select the encode method "Chinese (auto)" The Chinese characteristic can also display-out...

It's seem this setting havn't mention at Lotus Notes Support Sites!

Regards,
Daniel L.
