I have just setup a R5 server, and used the user name Administrator
during installation. I would like now to administer the server remotly
using my own user name. I have added my user name in the group
'Administrators' but I still get the following messages when trying to
administer the server using my own user id:

server error - you are not authorized to use the remote console on this
server

And I cannot add/edit the domain or connection documents.

Many Thanks

Make sure that the 'Administrators' group is listed in the Server Doc as
Administrator for the server. I've found it just as easy to list my name
explicitly in this field.

Also if you want to run the WEBADMIN there is different field in the
Server Doc to allow administration from a browser, check and/or add
yourself to this one too.

Thanks for your reply.

I have listed the group 'Administrators', in the Server Doc field
'Administrator', I even listed my user name as well, but all the server
lets me do is edit documents.

I hope I do not have to keep a copy of the original administrators id
file on a floppy with me whenever I want to administer the server.

For example, I cannot add configurations, domains, connections, servers
etc... Which is something I need to do since this server will be in the
remote location.

Many Thanks
