Hi,

Today, I accidently deleted 8 users using the Delete Person ( with mail
file option ) in Domino Administrator.

The mail file still exists on the Domino Server, but the User is no
longer visible in the main address book. (names.nsf)

My problem is dat these users can no longer access there mail file. How
can I undo this operation. The problem is that when I try to change the
ACL of each mail file using their ID file, I always get the "You are not
authorized ....." message.
So that means the used itself can no longer access his own mail file. Is
there any way that I can correct this. It's quite urgent, because about 8

people will not be able to read their mail tomorrow because of my
mistake.

Many thx to all responses.

So you recreated the users and you want them to access their old mail files?
You can open the databases on the server itself and add them back to the ACL
of the old mail files.

Do you have a replica where the users are still intact. If so copy the
person docs from the BackPNAB and paste them into the PNAB. A mail database
normally has the person's name in the ACL as Manager, but when you delete a
person the name in the corresponding mail file is also removed.
You can fix the ACL by using a client on the server.
File/Database/Open/BROWSE then you open it locally and have full access.
You may have to type in "dbcache flush" at the Domino console to avoid an
exclusive assignment message.
Don't leave the database open on the client as the server will not be able
to access it. Databases opened "on Server" however have no problems in this
area.

yeah, just paste back their person documents into the NAB (if you're
able to obtain them)

or; having to recreate the users - make use of the old mailboxes, and
amend the ACL to include their "new" registered names.

You can still use the mail databases. All is not lost.

... unless the mail databases were previously encrypted.

They will of course loose any encrypted mail if you have to create them as
new users
