I have migrated a user to a new system and I am having a bit of an
issue here. When I try to open their local database, I get an
"Invalid or nonexistent document" message. When I run nfixup, I get
the following:

The ID file being used is: C:\Program Files\lotus\notes\data\user.id
Enter password (press the Esc key to abort):

\notes\da
ta\mail\pzimmermanex.nsf: Invalid or nonexistent document
04/01/2008 11:39:20 AM Database Fixup: Shutdown

I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. Any help is
appreciated.

If the database has a very large number of deletion stubs, try purging
them, and then running the utilities.

Another thing you could try is disabling soft deletions.

Got it fixed!

Here's what I did wrong.

I installed Notes, created a new user, logged out, then copied the
user.id file over top of the new user.

Here's how you should transfer mail accounts after installing Notes
onto another system.

-Create the new user.
-Log off once Notes completes its initial setup
-Rename the original \LOTUS\NOTES\DATA\USER.ID
-Open Notes
-Select the renamed USER.ID
-Copy over the original USER.ID and the database files to a new
directory
-Go to Security-->Switch userID
-select the original user.id file and login
-Go to File-->Database-->Open Database
-Open the respective database file
