Staff Scientist
Medical Image Processing

The Department of Radiology, National Institutes of Health Clinical Center,
is seeking a Staff Scientist to support our research efforts in
three-dimensional reconstruction and display of radiologic data. The areas
of virtual endoscopy, computer-assisted diagnosis, registration of
patient-specific anatomic models, surface and volume rendering methods, and
virtual reality displays are under investigation. The project will build on
our earlier work on virtual endoscopy of the human respiratory system,
vasculature, and colon. Applicants with a proven track record as evidenced
by peer-reviewed publications on medical applications of computer
visualization and virtual reality and having advanced mathematical and
computer skills are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated expertise in C++ and
graphics programming on IRIX or NT operating system are required. The
candidate should have a Ph.D. in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering,
Computer Science, Mathematics, Biophysics or Physics. Advanced skills in
image segmentation, reconstruction and display are sought. Initial
appointment is for two years and is renewable thereafter. Salary
