Scientific Computer Programmer
Medical Image Processing

The Department of Radiology, National Institutes of Health Clinical Center,
is seeking a Scientific Computer Programmer to support our research efforts
in three-dimensional reconstruction and display of radiologic data. The
areas of virtual endoscopy, computer-assisted diagnosis, registration of
patient-specific anatomic models, surface and volume rendering methods, and
virtual reality displays are under investigation. The project will build
on our earlier work on virtual endoscopy of the human respiratory system,
vasculature, and colon. Applicants with an interest in medical
applications of computer visualization and virtual reality and having
advanced mathematical and computer skills are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated expertise in C++ and graphics programming on IRIX or NT
operating system are required. The candidate should have a Masters or Ph.D.
in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics,
Biophysics or Physics. Advanced skills in image segmentation,
reconstruction and display are sought. Position is renewable on an annual
basis for up to five years. Salary commensurate with experience. NIH is an
