I am have trouble with Kernel32, with 3d studio and Windows mainly. every so
often when i load it up, 3d studio will come up with an error saying

3dsmax has caused an error in kernel32.dll
3dsmax will now close.

If you continue to experience problems,
try restating your computer.

This happerns with windows (ME) buit with a BSOD and restarts. after that
its fine until the next time.

What is kernel32, and what does it do?
please help.

(ps i have noticed this happerns when i have used the computer a lot before,
but that maynot be true.)

main part of the operating system. on windows it mainly crashes. under
linux it's there for incopatibilities and on SGI system.. er, well Irix
runs fine most of the time.

kernel32.dll is pretty much the main part of windows, so if other
software "made it weak" amx crashes it

Most KERNEL32.DLL related crashes can be traced back to a misbehaving
driver. I'd start with the video driver, checking for updates, deleting and
reinstalling the current driver if there isn't one. Next look at the sound
card as these drivers can also be problematic. You might also want to check
the web page of the company that made your motherboard and see if there's
any driver/patches there. Last thing I can think of is to verify that all
the fans in your computer are working properly and that air can flow through
the case (meaning that the hard drive cables aren't blocking airflow to your
PCI cards or something like that) as too much heat can cause BSOD's.

Good luck with this one. These problems can be a real pain to locate.
