Greetings,

I am very pleased to announce the general availability of ActiveSolid 1.0
beta 2
for MS Windows platforms (98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP):
www.ncf.carleton.ca/~ds755/ActiveSolid-1.0b.exe

We are currently looking for beta testers for this exciting new software.
Here is an excerpt
from the README file of this release.

======================================================
ActiveSolid is both an application and an ActiveX control. The control
version
has all the functionality and GUI elements as the application version except
for the menu bar. The app version provides an additional menu bar.

As a control, all functionality of ActiveSolid is accessible through
ActiveSolid's Context Sensitive Menu, Control Panel and Tool Bar. As a
result,
no user programming is required to make full use of AcitveSolid control
since
the control itself has a powerful built-in GUI. This is very different from
almost all ActiveX controls available on the market, which usually provide
no
or very limited user interface and thus require extensive client side
programming
to make their functionality accessible to end users.

ActiveSolid can be hosted in many standard ActiveX containers, such as
Internet
Explorer and Microsoft ActiveX Control Test Container. Version 1 has limited
automation capability. (Note as a control, ActiveSolid currently does not
function
properly within Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word or PowerPoint)

ActiveSolid is written entirely in ATL/WTL and is thus very compact. All
functionality is packed inside ActiveSolid.dll under 2MB (excluding
OpenGL.dll for rendering and FreeImage.dll for 2D image import/export).
It features an intuitive, non-blocking GUI and is a fun to use. It is the
only
high quality solid modeling program/control in its price range (under
$30us).
Version 1.0 features, but not limited to, the following capabilities......
(to be continued in the README file)
===================================================

Still interested? Just click on the above link to download the beta 2
version.
It is a unlimited, full version except for 3 disabled commands.

Known issue: the Edit->Properties command is known not to work
properly on Windows 98/ME. All other bug reports, suggestions and/or
criticisms are welcome.

Cheers,

Dennis Jiang
