screensaver help

i'm trying to program an actual screensaver and so far, all i have is an exe
renamed scr and it runs, but with the following problems:

1. when selecting the saver from the ss tab, the program is automatically
run in fullscreen mode. is there something i have to do to make it preview?

2. when clicking on settings, it automatically runs, how do i make a
window that will pop up so i can have users change the settings?

3. when clicking on install, it runs the dang thing too!

i'm using VC++5 and hope there is an easy way to add these things to the
prog, but if it's complicated, then bring it on!
