Utility to change creator info??

Hello:

I've been experimenting lately with images rendered on an SGI in PICT
format, transfered to a Syquest drive on the SGI, and taken via
sneaker-net to my PowerMac. Here's the problem. The files arrive as
generic (TEXT) documents (but will open fine in Photoshop). My problem is
that I need to change their file type to PICT for a less friendly program.
Is there an utility that will batch process a folder (drag and drop would
be nice...) and changes creator and file type info??

ctc (change type/creator), available at an info-mac archive near you.

You may want to use FileTyper 4.1, shareware $10. It does what you want and
more neat little things. It can be found at most major mac archives I'd
suppose.

Or you can try the control panel Snitch, also available at Infomac,
which gives you lots more info and flexibility.

Open them in Photoshop and do a "File/Save As...(file type: Pict)". This
will cause the files to be saved as type: Pict and Creator: Photoshop.

The by far best utility for this I've seen so far is a brilliant piece of
shareware I saw god knows how many years ago (1989 I think). It's called
BatFiler and is by a guy named Fernando Salazar (CompuServe: 71550,676
according to the literature). Altough it is a bit quirky and very old, it
still works fine under system 7.5! You can rename name strings, change
file/creator and all the Finder flags you want. I don't have to use it
very often, but when I do, I *really* need to. BatFiler has come to the
rescue each and every time.

It's not difficult if you have the right tool: File Buddy 3.x.
Slurp it from your finer shareware servers.
This program is so fine that you will not be able to live without it!
That's your only warning...

Check out File Buddy by Laurence Harris. It's a good drag-and-drop
utility and does loads of other neat little things. You'll find it on any
decent Mac ftp site.
