You are not really opening a directory in Ulead. You are opening a
directory in windows. If you are using Thumbnail view, you should see
thumbnails of images. If you are not using Thumbnail view, you might
just see icons. Windows also will not show thumbnails of image formats
it does not understand. If you named something file.bak, Windows does
not recognize bak as a valid image file type.

Ulead is a software vendor, that has in fact been taken over by Corel,
so you are not IN Ulead, you using a program that is made by
Ulead/Corel.
The program integrates with the OS, so when you do File Open, a window
comes up that is a Windows box. If you are doing something different,
please post a picture somewhere on the Internet and post the URL here
(do not attempt to attach a picture to your message).
Yes, I am using the program Ulead Photo Express 4.0 to manipulate my photos.
Sorry ... sometimes I don't look past the first word in a program's name. I
am NOT using File Open to get to the photos. I am using "Browse" (in the
big orange tab in Ulead Photo Express 4.0) to navigate to my photo
directories. When I click on a directory (they are all listed on the left
hand side in typical Windows order), all the photos show up in the right
hand portion of the screen (Photo Express calls them "icons" in View, but
they are the photos, not just an icon, when it is working properly.) Today
I can see the the actual photo thumbnail (just as I would if I were using
Windows Explorer "thumbnail" choice in View). Other times I see only the
icons (the .jpg "flowerpot" in every square that should be a photo
thumbnail).
Closing and then re-opening the program sometimes solves my problem. Some
days it doesn't.
I don't know what you want me to post a picture of? The Photo Express
screen?

PS ... what's wrong with top posting? I hate scrolling down the pages and
pages of repetition some folks post to find a all too often 1-word response.
Top posting seems more polite. Just MHO.
