Hi all,
Just uploaded my website. Contains mostly Photoshop work.
Comments appreciated.

Do sign my guest book. It's quite bare now.
Chatroom won't work if you have a firewall.

DONT make my browser go full screen - immediatley shut the thing down when I saw
this. Like a porno site where the pop-ups keep appearing no matter how many
times you close....

Argh! Yes, you screwed up my finely tuned browser window size! ;)

..really, "recommended 1024x768" and the window resizes to 1600x1200
covering up all my screen real estate for no good reason..? ...and it's not
maximized so I can't click it back into normal size at ease either, but have
to resize it manually again... painful!

I'll look at it as soon as it behaves better... ;)

IMHO,
The Flash stuff is neat, but I would not use Flash to present the photos.
Maybe make a template in Dreamweaver and if you have ultradev, make the
center an editable region and use the xml features to update the photo.
300+k is alot for people without broadband to sit around and wait to load...
Probably would have left the site if I didn't because it takes too long to
load. If you set up the site with a template and put flash movies in the
non-editable region, you should be able to load the images individually
instead of have to load them all in a flash movie...Flash is nice, but
sometimes less is more. Focus on the images, not the fluff....this is what
people who would come to you site want to see....IMHO.

Hi there,

Is my site doing this? All the Java script should do is open the browser to
it's fullest while showing the address bar and stuff. It shouldn't be full
screen (there's another Java script for that).

Is there anyone experiencing this "Like a porno site where the pop-ups keep

appearing no matter how many times you close...."

I hate that allot. Please let me know what system / browser your using.

Thanks
Alfred

Hi Brian,

I totally agree that my site doesn't really need to be in Flash. Only reason
why it's done this way was because I've always wanted to pick up Flash.
So now I have. :)

The thing about broadband.... this is my thinking.
The primary aim of my website is to showcase my work, and maybe perhaps even
get some freelance work, or being hired.

If this potential client cannot even afford to have a decent internet
bandwidth, then I don't think I'll be interested to work with them anyway.

Would you work in a company that has a 56K modem line???

Alfred,
To better showcase your work, you might want to put this site in a self
executing file on a cdrom and distribute it...Then it would not take so long
to download. Also a very effective multimedia way to get companies to
notice not only your photoshop skills, but that you are fluent with other
programs such as flash...very neat design.

I don't know how long you've been using the internet, but I believe it's a
much cheaper/easier way to distribute my work....

People, why don't you state which company your from.
For all I know, you guys could be students on holiday with too much time to
spare.

Hi all,

Seems like the maximize script is getting to people. I've re-moved the Java
script, it should now open the html the way it was last opened.

Can anyone help me with this:
Whenever I update the site, wether it's the html or flash file or even the
.txt used in announcements, it always reads the cache files instead. I need
to clear the cache by deleting the Temporary Internet files and all offline
contents (IE5.5) before seeing the updated files.

Is there any way to solve this?

The latest html should not contain the Maximize Java Script and in
"Announcement", the log should include 22.May.2001

Thanks everyone again for your input.
- Alf
